Fall Cup & Shield PDF Print E-mail

The Fall Cup & Shield are the first competitive baseball events of the academic callendar. Began in 2009, these late October competitions act as an entry point to the new season. The aim of them is to provide a competitive outlet early in the season, to give any and all new recruits the chance to experience serious play early on in the year.

The competition is split into two sections, the Cup being contested by the so called 'Tier 1' sides (based on previous years performance) and the Shield by the remaining 'Tier 2' clubs. This breakdown allows those new and less competitive teams develop their onfield skills in a suitable environment, whilst providing a challenging level of competition.

The 2009 Fall Cup will be held over the weekend of 17-18 October at Herts Baseball Club in Hemel Hempstead, whilst the Shield will be competed for over the following weekend (24-25 October) at the University of Nottingham's Grove Farm Park.

The 'tiers' for the 2009 competitio are as follows:

Tier 1 Tier 2
Leeds Oaks Brighton Panthers
Nottingham Thieves Lincoln Commoners
Oxford Kings Imperial Falcons
Southampton Mustangs Sheffield Iron Eagles
UEA Blue Sox Kings College
