Marcus Trescothick, the one time England cricketer and lover of baseball is to host a special event as part of testimonial year at Somerset County Cricket Club. The Baseball Spectacular due to take place on October 4th in Taunton will feature a baseball match between team GB and a selection of household names from the world of cricket, Marcus' Bangers.
Of course when news of this event spread to Nottingham, the Thieves could hardly contain their excitment and a mass road trip was planned. A group of players both current and retired will make their way to the County Ground in Taunton to witness the spectacle for themselves. For one of Nottingham's finest however, the day will have an entirely different purpose. George Lintern (P, SS) will not spend his day amongst the spectators in the stands, but rather will be down on the pitch representing his country!
The en-masse migration of Thieves to the westcountry could also only lead to one thing, a fixture against AAA side the Bristol Badgers. The friendly fixture falls outside of BUBA regualtions and as such presented itself as the ideal opportunity for a reunion game. Former Thieves stars including Philip Longdin and Rowan Ellis will don the green jersey once more along with hall-of-famer John Irving. The match will provide an ideal oportunity to see old friendsbut also will allow for some much needed practice before the season begins with the Fall Cup two weeks later.
